Argyle Project | Ismael TEIRA in Edinburgh
Spanish artist Ismael Teira will arrive in Edinburgh with a distant gaze as he explores the streets and architectures of the city for the first time. For his exhibition at IR11 Teira will investigate the histories of Argyle House, an imposing building belonging to the Brutalist movement, which has recently been transformed into artist studios, workshops and also houses the Interview Room 11 gallery.

PR Info _ Spanish artist Ismael Teira will arrive in Edinburgh with a distant gaze as he explores the streets and architectures of the city for the first time. For his exhibition at IR11 Teira will investigate the histories of Argyle House, an imposing building belonging to the Brutalist movement, which has recently been transformed into artist studios, workshops and also houses the Interview Room 11 gallery. Although the primary purpose of Argyle House has changed, there are traces of the previous occupants to be found; documentation, archives, illuminated signs…
‘I’m interested in walking as a creative act and the landscape through the travel experience. I look at the tracks, traces, imprints, shortcuts, roads, desire paths; and also on the road. I care and worry about the monuments and other outbreaks in public space.’
